Hyperloop is one step closer to becoming a reality in Europe thanks to the Hyper4Rail project, an initiative supported by the European Rail Joint Undertaking, the largest public-private partnership for railway innovation in Europe and part of the European Commission.
This ambitious project aims to develop a unified concept for the European hyperloop, integrating propulsion, levitation, and automation technologies to consolidate a high-speed and sustainable transport system.
Hyper4Rail brings together 27 organizations from 13 countries to define the future of hyperloop in Europe. What is Hyper4Rail and How will it advance hyperloop?
Hyper4Rail’s mission is to establish a common framework for the development of hyperloop in Europe, ensuring its interoperability with the existing railway system and aligning it with the European Union’s sustainable mobility goals.
The project’s key objectives include:
- Defining a standardized design for the European hyperloop, ensuring integration with railway infrastructure.
- Validating key technologies, including electric propulsion, magnetic levitation, and safety systems.
- Promoting a high-speed, efficient, and sustainable transport system, reducing CO₂ emissions.
- Developing an industrialization roadmap, enabling large-scale hyperloop production in Europe.
The project’s kick-off event took place at the Technical University of Munich (TUM Hyperloop) and was led by the Hyperloop Development Program (HDP). Over the next 24 months, Zeleros will collaborate with key ecosystem players, including Hardt Hyperloop, EuroTube Foundation, RFI Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, and TransPod, among others.
